In recent years we have witnessed dramatic shifts in the factors shaping spaces of knowledge work. Practices such as telecommuting and the automation of repetitive tasks have reshaped the office. Worker wellbeing and office amenities have taken on a more pronounced value in certain industries, while increased inclusivity and accessibility have taken on a more pronounced cultural value.
But how will the office continue to evolve in the coming decades? How will the experience of workers shift at the scale of the body, the building, or the campus?
Based on insights provided by Gensler San Francisco, Italian furniture firm Tecno, the Paris Saclay campus, and other collaborations, this thesis studio aims to uncover what new paradigms might be anticipated in the coming years.
